Paul Scheuermeier - Friuli 1922
July 29 – September 3
Scuola d'Ambiente, Barcis
Paul Scheuermeier, Barcis
In 1919 Paul Scheuermeier was charged by the linguists Karl Jaberg and Jakob Jud to take part in the researches finalized to the redaction of the Linguistic Atlas of Italy and South Switzerland, working in particular about Northern Italy.
In 1922 he took 142 photos accompanied with sheets in Friuli (90) and Istria (52) that CRAF bought in 1997 in chemical prints and digital files from the University of Bern where the archives are conserved. The Municipality of Barcis wants to present the exhibition during the summer.
A text in the catalog will be written by Aline Kunz who worked on the correspondence between Karl Jaberg and Paul Scheuermeier. The letters give precious scientific information and explain the collecting work: all the historical, cultural and personal details that allow to understand the context in which the Atlas was born.
