In 1987, among the activities of Spilimbergo linked to photography, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Photography Prize was established with the sponsorship of the Regional Council of FVG with the aim of awarding important photographers that had made an innovative and original contribution to the development of Italian photography.
In 1996 with the sponsorship of the Union of Industrialists of the Province of Pordenone the International Photography Award was established for photographers of importance in the international panorama.
The Friends of CRAF was instead established in 2001 with the sponsorship of the Graphystudio ratify the collaboration between the company from Arba and CRAF with the aim of giving the prize to photographers and personalities of the cultural world that have contributed to the development and the knowledge about photography in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
