Spaliviero was born in 1964. He started photographing in 1979 as correspondent for a regional newspaper. He also was interested by naturalistic photography and published with other photographers the book "Una strada, tre confini". Successively he attended many workshops with Gianni Berengo gardin, Angelo Cozzi and, after a long period in an advertising photo-studio, he decided to devoted himself to black-and-white reportages. During his travels he realized a personal research about childhood, a reportage about people with mental problems for which he worked for seven months in the Psychiatric Hospital in Trieste. He went to Leros Isle, Greece and documented the dramatic situation of the Psychiatric Childhood Hospital. He realized beautiful photos, much of them are portraits, in Eritrea, Costa Rica, Yemen, Lebanon, Cuba, Armenia, Kurdistan and China.
In the occasion of this exhibition, Spaliviero will be awarded with the Friuli Venezia Giulia Fotografia Award.
